Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I edit my document?

DocWriter is free to open, view, scroll, zoom, print, and copy from any document. Editing — typing, formatting, inserting images and tables — requires an active DocWriter Pro subscription. Open the Subscribe panel in the app to see plans and pricing.

How do I subscribe or manage my subscription?

Tap "Subscribe" in the app's subscription panel to choose Monthly, Quarterly, or Yearly. To change or cancel a subscription, open the App Store app on your Mac, click your account name, then "Subscriptions."

I already subscribed but DocWriter still shows Reader Mode. What do I do?

Open the subscription panel in DocWriter and click "Restore Purchases." This re-checks your Apple ID for an active subscription. Make sure you're signed in to the App Store with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe.

What file formats does DocWriter support?

DocWriter opens and saves Word (.docx), RTF, and plain text documents, and can export to PDF. Opening a document from another word processor should preserve its formatting.

Does DocWriter require an account or sign-in?

No. DocWriter has no account system of its own. Subscriptions are tied to your Apple ID through the App Store. Signing in with Google is only needed if you choose to import or export a document via Google Drive.

Where is my data stored?

Your documents are stored locally on your Mac. See our Privacy Policy for full details on what information DocWriter collects.
